在营销力时代,由于市场逐渐走向成熟,广告的作用不再被神化,广告作为一种常规手段,与渠道、价格、公关、促销等手段一起为企业的整合营销贡献力量。 随着国际品牌加入中国市场竞争,中国企业亲眼目睹可口可乐、麦当劳等世界一流品牌,挟品牌之雄风横扫天下,如入无人之境,在惊诧、感叹之余,一些有识之士纷纷拿起品牌的武器,试图与之抗衡。 品牌力时代已经来临! 品牌(brand)一词来源于古挪威文字“brandr”,它的中文意思是“烙印”。在当时,西方游牧部落在马背上打上烙印,用以区分不同部落之间的财产,上面写着一句话:“不许动,它是我的”,并附有各部落的标记。这应该是最初的品牌标志和口号。 由此我们可以推断最初的品牌含义:首先是区分产品;其次是通过特定的口号在别人心中留下烙印。 现代意义的品牌,是指消费者和产品之间的全部体验。它不仅包括物质的体验,还包括精神的体验,它向消费者传递一种生活方式。人们在消费该产品时,被赋予一种象征性的意义并最终改变人们的生活态度以及生活观点。人们更换品牌,越来越多地取决于精神感受,而非产品的物理属性。 产品是冰冷的,而品牌是有血、有肉、有灵魂、有情感的;产品会过时、落伍、被竞争者模仿,而品牌则是独一无二的。 在西方,品牌被人们称为经济的“原子弹”,被认为是最有价值,甚至是暴利的投资。一些国际品牌的资产高达数百亿美元,富可敌国,如2003年可口可乐的品牌资产已经达到7045亿美元,在品牌不断升值的同时,还源源不断地从市场获取巨大的利润。国际市场的普遍规律是:20%的强势品牌占据着80%的市场。这一规律同样适用于中国。中国未来的市场趋势将是:弱者更弱,强者更强。 厂房再漂亮,消费者也不会在买产品之前先去参观工厂;技术再先进,也没有消费者去深入探究,消费者只凭着对品牌的感受来决定一切。因此,对企业而言,最重要的不是你认为自己的产品怎么样,而是消费者认为你的产品怎么样。 我们在为某啤酒品牌做品牌心理测试时,进行了一个有趣的实验:将该啤酒的空瓶里灌上百威(Budweiser)啤酒,再在百威的空瓶里灌上该啤酒,然后在繁华的王府井大街,请过往的行人免费品尝。我们先请他们品尝用该啤酒瓶装的百威啤酒,大多数的人都说不好喝,味道不正宗,其中一个当场吐了出来,抱怨道:这是什么味呀,真难喝。然后我们请他们品尝用百威啤酒瓶装的该啤酒,结果清一色地都说:这个好喝,味道正。于是我们问他们喝过百威啤酒没有,人们都说喝过,其中一个还说:中午刚喝了一瓶,就是这个味。这真令人哭笑不得。接下来,我们将瓶子上的标签撕去,再让人品尝,这时品尝者表现得无所适从,一会说这个好喝,一会又说那个好喝。 无独有偶的是,在美国举行的一次啤酒大会上,主办单位将30多种啤酒装在相同的瓶子里,然后将瓶子的标签全部撕去,让30多家啤酒厂的老板一一品尝,找出自己家的啤酒,结果竟然没有一个人能从中找出。 可见在产品日益同质化的时代,产品的物理属性已经相差无几,惟有品牌给人以心理暗示,满足消费者的情感和精神寄托。 对于消费者而言, 品牌是一种经验。在物质生活日益丰富的今天,同类产品多达数十种、上百种,甚至上千种,消费者根本不可能逐一去了解,只能凭借过去的经验或别人的经验。因为消费者相信,如果在一棵果树上摘下一颗果子是甜的,那么这棵树上的另一颗果子也是甜的。这就是品牌的“果树效应”。 品牌也是一种保证。对于陌生的事物,消费者不会轻易去冒险,对于品牌和非品牌的产品,消费者更愿意选择的是品牌产品,这时,品牌给消费者以信心和保证。比如一场球赛,如果是迭戈·马拉多纳(Diego Armando Maradona)出场,我们会更愿意观看,因为我们相信,有马拉多纳出场,这场球赛一定会很精彩。在这里,马拉多纳就是品牌,就是信心和保证。 品牌更是个性的展现和身份的象征。穿喜来登(Sheraton)与穿雅戈尔、喝XO与喝二锅头、坐法拉利(Ferrari)与坐夏利的人绝对是完全不同的两种人。使用什么样的品牌,基本上就表示你是个什么样的人。同样是牛仔服,穿万宝路(Marlboro)牛仔服,表示你是个有男子汉气概的人;而穿李维斯(Levi's)牛仔服,表示你是个自由、反叛、有性格的人。
